Well. That was some feedback. 😳
Welcome to The Writing Rundown, a weekly newsletter that offers advice, short essays, and reading suggestions to help driven writers (like you!) improve their writing craft. It's nice to see you here! If someone forwarded you this email because they love your writing, you can subscribe here. Estimated Reading Time: 4 minutes "I don't dislike you. It's an oversimplification.” ― Ilona Andrews, Magic Bites Last week I asked how you were feeling about the changes to The Writing Rundown, and I got a lot of responses. Some in replies, a ton more in Unsubscribes. The largest number of “No thank you, stay out of my inbox, please and thank you” actions we’ve ever gotten on a send. Was it the weird German word in the Subject Line? Was it the aggressive ask for a reply at the end? Was it the sorta long essay thing (or the fact that it was repurposed from LinkedIn) after I said I wouldn’t be sharing essays anymore? Was it the erratic sending schedule of the past few weekends? A couple TWRs ago I told you that I’m sorta “going through it” right now, trying to figure out a lot of things. About CYC, about my own creative direction, about the places I live and who I spend my time with…so it makes sense that as I’m flailing in the wind, people would be less interested in sticking around for that flailing. That’s all to say, I totally understand if you want to jump ship as well! If you are willing to stay through it, I promise I’ll be sharing more at some point what this all is about and what it feels like and the process I’ve gone through. Or if the weird foreign word in the subject line put you off…well…this probably isn’t going to be the space for you, anyway. CYC Elsewhere…Other places we’ve popped up around the interwebs.

Schadenfreude [SHAH-den-froy-duh] (n.) – From the German language, this has become a loanword in many languages, but not many people know what it means. It literally translates as “damage joy” and it is a sense of joy that one feels at seeing someone else’s misfortune.
